In the quaint Virginia city of Floyd, perhaps best known for its annual Floyd Fest, is another festival with more than just music to enjoy.  Floyd Yoga Jam is going on this weekend August 31 – September 3, and will be offering a stacked lineup of bands in addition to a plethora of workshops prominently consisting of – you guessed it – yoga instruction, but also dance, healing, and other topics to explore your body, mind and spirit.  If you are feeling tired out from a busy summer, this is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate yourself just in time for fall.

The music schedule has been announced and includes headliners Oddisee & Good Company, Dangermuffin, Wha!, Phoebe Hunt & The Gatherers, Emma’s Lounge and many up and coming bands including Morgan Wade & The Stepbrothers, The Get Right Band, plus tons more acts of acoustic, jam, world, folk, and other genres.  The music and class schedule has been announced so you can go ahead and plan your weekend.

The classes and music are separated at different stages and areas titled “JAMLAND” and “BLISSLAND.”  The Jamland stages include Main Stage, Boogie Down Dance Hall, Tea Shanti Speakeasy, People’s Playground, and Art Village.  The Blissland tents are Brahma Nirvana tent, Buddha Moon tent, Shiva Love tent, and Ganesha tent, plus Kidsville and OM Space.  With all of these spaces to explore, you know that you will be engrossed in an endless supply of music, classes, and all the yoga you could ever dream of.

Thursday is a light day with mostly folk and acoustic music, plus a vinyasa flow class, a “glowga flow,” and chanting and healing workshops.  Friday the workshops start bright and early at 7AM with various types and levels of meditation, then continue into the day with yoga, dance, self-love, sound healing, drumming, nature walks and more.  Don’t miss the opening ceremony at 1PM at the main stage, followed by the band J Brave & Shylah who will kick off the music for the day.  The headliner for Friday night is Seth Walker Trio.

Oddisee

Saturday and Sunday are similarly stacked with workshops and music, Saturday night hosting the most headliners — Oddisee & Good Company, Dangermuffin, and Solar Circuit. Sunday night moves towards chant and world music from Lobo Marino, Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band, and ending with DJ Chris Luster.  You can join the closing ceremony to reflect on your time and all that you have learned, at 9:30PM on the main stage.

There will be yoga slackliners, live artists, red tent workshops, and other special treats for adults and children alike all over the venue. It is truly a feast for all the senses, but most of all the soul.
