On the tenth stop of their winter tour, Connecticut funk quintet Kung Fu joined forces with Talking Heads cover band, Psycho Killers on February 10 at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD.

Kung Fu got the night started with a set full of smooth segues and ear-pleasing electro jazz and funk/rock fusion. The crowd started grooving almost instantly as the band kicked off their set with the smooth and soulful “Sfvendago,” seamlessly transitioning straight into “Hollywood Kisses” showcasing Tim Palmieri’s guitar skills and the vocal talents of the band.

“Joyride” > “Cars” > “Caught Up” > “Joyride” was undoubtedly the highlight of the set. This ultimate jam sandwich was executed flawlessly as if Kung Fu had fused all four songs together into one funky super beast that was almost impossible to distinguish one from the next. This band has definitely mastered the art of the segue.

Every member of the band equally stood out showcasing their individual talents. Kung Fu definitely lives up to their “extreme funk” genre, reaching beyond the contemporary boundaries of jazz fusion and crossing over into other genres live to create a multifaceted, one-of-a-kind musical experience.
