THE DISCO BISCUITS ADD BOOMBOX, OPIUO, BEN SILVER AND CARTEL TWINS TO CITY BISCO

NEW YORK – Sept. 20-23, 2017 – The Disco Biscuits will be performing their annual four-night ‘City Bisco’ run in NYC in just a few weeks, and BoomBox, Opiuo, Ben Silver (of Orchard Lounge) and The Cartel Twins are now joining the bill.

On Sept. 20 and 21 the shows are in Manhattan at the legendary Irving Plaza, followed by a double header at the Coney Island Amphitheatre Friday Sept. 21 and Saturday Sept. 22.

Here’s a little more about each new addition:

BoomBox, the electronic work of songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Zion Rock Godchaux, kicked off their summer with “Right Around Two (feat. Donna Jean)”, their first new music (along with this winter’s “Laid Back and Loaded”) since the departure of long time collaborator Russ Randolph.  The new tracks are a further exploration of the band’s signature sound; an electronic blend of soulful Rock and Blues based dance music incorporating Backbeat, Psychedelia and Funky House sounds, which Godchaux refers to as “Dirty Disco Blues.”

As a National touring DJ and Producer, Ben Silver reaches toward the deepest, moodiest corners of House, Techno & Downtempo. Fans may know him as one-third of Orchard Lounge, the long-running Chicago-based DJ collective. The trio’s all-night tag-team sets blend psychedelic house, deep bass, melodic techno, and other futuristic, ethereal sounds. Orchard Lounge has held residencies at clubs around the country, including Smartbar in Chicago, Vagabond in Miami and Love in New York. They’ve gigged at legendary venues like Red Rocks and Hammerstein Ballroom, at major festivals including Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Electric Zoo, and alongside artists Steve Bug, Nicolas Jaar, Lee Foss, DJ T, and many others. Ben will be joining the lineup on Saturday Sept. 22 in Coney Island.

Opiuo is bringing some funk to the bill. A Kiwi who now calls Australia home, Opiuo is a chief sufferer of intense musical addiction, spending every spare second creating audible treats and selling out venues throughout the entire world – he’s a highly anticipated addition to the 2017 City Bisco.

Cartel Twins have been making splashes in NYC dance music for over a decade. At the ripe age of 12, the twins learned and carefully mastered the unique art of turntablism on a pair of Technic SL-1210MK2’s. For the Brooklyn-bred, Coney Island raised duo, that was just the beginning. Gabriel & Samuel Volodarsky then threw their first party at just 17 years old — the rest was history. Their roots stem back to Odessa, Ukraine [Soviet Russia], bringing an eclectic sound and way of thinking to the table for these first generation, American artists.
