Mustang Music Festival Preview

Oct 7-8, Corolla, NC

Written by Drew Lucas

Looks like we have got the biggest lineup that we have seen this festival season at the Mustang Music Festival in the beautiful Outer Banks Oct 7-8, 2016.  Nestled away in the northernmost part of the Outer Banks, the Whalehead in Historic Corolla is secluded from most of the OBX tourists and an absolutely stunning place to watch live music.  Also, October is a great time to be in the Outer Banks: almost always the perfect temperate midday and more privacy/less traffic due to less tourism.  It would be hard to have a bad time when you’re standing next to the Currituck Sound listening to live jams all day long.

Moe., G.Love and Special Sauce, Big Something, Yonder Mountain String Band, and more will be the bands that will be filling the air this time around.  This list of national acts range in genre from alternative rock to folk rock to jam band to bluegrass.  There is something in this lineup for everyone.

This festival is even perfect to plan a full vacation around for before and/or after the festival.  Patrons love to come from all over the region and rent houses or condos for days after and enjoy the serenity of the surrounding areas.  It is perfect for a trip like that if you like music festival and the beach but cannot seem to pick between the two.  It is the best of both worlds.  There will also be food vendors, beer vendors, and a dock to watch the sunset from.  The sunset from this venue is quite ideal as it has the sound to it’s west.  Tickets for both nights are $69 in advance or $40/day in advance.  The dates are Friday October 7 and Saturday October 8.  You would not regret making this festival/beach fusion trip happen.
