You know the scene… Friday night in Port Chester and there’s a dead band playing at the Capitol Theatre, tie dye shirts filling the local taco shops and bars before they cascade into the theatre. This time it happened to be Stella Blues Band to have the honor of playing the first show back at the Cap, since well you know… Garcia’s bar fills up and everyone’s excited for the show!

Stella Blues Band put on an electrifying performance, portraying masterful musicianship and paying homage to The Grateful Dead. The show included everything you could hope for like an extended Drums section, projections across the Cap walls, and choice Dead songs played with umph. A staple of the thriving Dead scene found around Port Chester and the surrounding areas, Stella Blues Band make sure the music never stops.

Dogs In a Pile opened for the band at Garcia’s and even played a bit during set break. I have somehow unwillingly hopped on their tour, seeing them in AC after Phish (raging with some of the members at Phish Hershey), Garcia’s, and now most recently opening for Dopapod at Brooklyn Bowl. Seems like these guys are everywhere or are at least on top of the pulse of the scene. Don’t sleep on them, they’re going places!

It feels good to be back! It is always an honor and joy seeing a show at this incredible theatre.
