What’s up, readers?! Summer is finally here! Break out the backpacks, pack up your cars, and cruise the land of the brave and free.  Make the most of these sunny days! Get a heavy dose of live music by spending a weekend at a music festival or other event. Not sure where to go, or what to do?  No problemo! Here at The Jamwich we’ve got you covered with a home-brewed batch of some extra tasty concerts and other live events happening throughout the week.  Here’s what’s up.

No money? No problem! Back Home Appalachian Arts & Music Festival, taking place this weekend in downtown New Martinsville, WV, has all that you need. This festival is FREE! That’s right! No money required to enter the festival, however, there are some exclusive, and late-night shows nearby at Lincoln Theatre which do require $10 tickets to attend.  Scheduled artists for the event include Allman Betts Band, The Travelin’ McCoury’s, Billy Strings, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Rumpke Mountain Boys, and many other great artists.  No on-site camping at this one, however, free camping will be available just a half-mile away at New Martinsville Marina.  If you’re not up for pitching a tent, the festival’s site also has suggestions for nearby hotels and motels for lodging over the weekend. To learn more, look for answers to your questions, and purchase tickets, head on over to www.backhomefestival.com.

Put on your boogie shoes and get ready for the fourth annual Grateful Get Down at South Mountain Fairgrounds in Biglerville, PA. This weekend; get out of the house and enjoy several Grateful Dead cover groups, as well as some other original artists and bands. Enjoy live music from Cabinet, Melvin Seals & JGB, Terrapin Flyer, Willie Jack & Northern Light, The Dirty Grass Players, Escaper & more! All camping will be “vehicle camping,” which means you’ll be set up right alongside your vehicle.  Weekend general admission costs $90, although both parking and camping are included in this price. No alcohol sales will be taking place on-site, but feel free to B.Y.O.B (as long as you drink it responsibly). Children’s activities are scheduled for both Friday and Saturday night, so don’t worry about your young ones getting bored.  Family camping is also available. To learn more, and purchase your tickets please visit www.gratefulgetdown.com.

ROMP Fest returns for its 16th annual weekend of music, dance and celebration this Thursday through Sunday at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro, KY.  Scheduled acts include Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Sam Bush, The Travelin McCoury’s, Billy Strings, Trampled by Turtles, The Del McCoury Band, The Wood Brothers, Steve Earle & The Dukes, plus several other mind-blowing musicians.  The good times kick off Thursday at 4:00p.m., so make sure you’ve put in your time-off requests at work for this Friday.  Musicians are all encouraged to bring their own instruments and find their own grooves to share in. Also, there will be several artists-led instrument workshops for all levels & ages, plus other workshops on songwriting, clogging, flat-foot dancing, as well as yoga.  If you want to party from Thursday through Sunday, get ready to hand over $175 for weekend admission, plus $25 if you plan to pitch a tent on-site. Day passes are also available for those who can’t sacrifice the entire weekend, although the camping passes remain $25 whether it’s for the entire weekend, or just one night.  Learn more and scoop up tickets at www.rompfest.com.

Of course we would be remiss not to mention the magic that many of us are traveling to this weekend: Electric Forest in Rothbury, MI.  The festival traditionally headlined by The String Cheese Incident continues to grow and wow audiences with multiple stages and experiences including breathtaking art installations.  This year’s headliners include Odesza, Kygo, Bassnectar, and Zed’s Dead, and of course 3 sets of The String Cheese Incident.

Don’t forget to continue scrolling down in order to take a peek at our entire list of concerts and events throughout the week.  Let us know where you’ll be, and feel free to leave your own suggestions in the comment section. Until next week. Stay Jammy.
