Break out your Birkenstocks and ditch your down comforter! Spring has sprung and in our little corner of this wide world it can mean only one thing; the festival season is upon us!  And as the sweet perfume of the Pennsylvania Rose Pogonia mingles with the pitter patter of bare feet and the ever pungent presence of patchouli, Jibberjazz productions, the fine folks of Schuylkill County PA. and lovers of underground music festivals everywhere ready for the 11th annual Some Kind Of Jam Music and Camping Festival, April 22-24.

Over the past decade SKOJ, presented by Jibberjazz productions, has established a reputation for bringing together some of the most diverse collections of cult-favorites on the east coast.  Finding a festival that feels like home can sometimes be a double-edged sword. It’s always great to see how your favorite projects have evolved since last season, but at some point, you begin to sacrifice the thrill of discovery, both of new bands, and of new sounds all together. Some Kind Of Jam tackles this problem head-on by assembling the very best experimental underground acts from around the country and beyond in one comfortable, convenient, family friendly, and utterly accommodating setting.

The festival takes place on the grounds of the beautiful Schuylkill County fairgrounds. Located in Eastern Pennsylvania, the site features sixty acres of full-service campgrounds. Whether you’re hanging out in your hammock or hitting the road in your RV, this venue is sure to accommodate your needs. Campsite water and electric hook ups are available on request and permanent restrooms and showers are available to all. Want to mix in a little quality R&R? Schuylkill County fairgrounds also offer an onsite fishing pond and a series of nature trails.  And if all that still isn’t enough to keep you and your campers busy, Some Kind of Jam will be hosting some of the region’s premiere craft and food vendors as well as a kid’s area and a full schedule of workshop events for the entire family.

This year’s headline includes special guests, the UK-based internationally touring jazz fusion act, The New Mastersounds, Vermont psych-rockers RAQ, Pa’s own polka punks This Way to the Egress, and the harp-heavy, blues-rock-jazz stylings of Jason Ricci & The Bad Kind. In all, the showcase will include 31 musical acts stretching the boundaries of bluegrass, rock, soul, folk, funk, reggae, rock, jazz, jam, world, and beyond. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Here’s what previous year’s attendees are saying about SKOJ.

“These are some of the most family friendly festivals I’ve ever been to! The volunteers do an amazing job with the kid’s area and there are lots of families. I’ve been attending for 5+ years. See you at some kind of jam!”

“What a wonderful atmosphere indeed. The campground is wonderful, the attendees are wonderful, the volunteers are wonderful, the music is wonderful and the food and vendors are wonderful. I have never been to a bad JibberJazz!”
