MAD TEA PARTY ART NIGHT at Creative Labs in Baltimore has been moved to THIS Wednesday 3/28.  RSVP to the event now!  We hope to see you there for a casual night of art and music. Artists of all mediums are welcome, come show off!

Everyone’s favorite Grateful Dead cover band, Dark Star Orchestra will be in the area this week for a few performances.  Dark Star Orchestra has been continuing Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead’s legacy since 1997, performing spot-on renditions of past Grateful Dead concerts.  Come see the band and take a trip back in time this Friday in Charlottesville, Virginia and Saturday in Baltimore, Maryland.

The 8×10 has a stacked week of good music, so if you live near Baltimore you’re in luck. People’s Blues of Richmond is in it’s third residency week (3/28), That 1 Guy plays Friday 3/30, and Broccoli Samurai will be playing with Catallus on Saturday (3/31).

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will be at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC this week for a small two-night run this Friday and Saturday.  Friday evening, the band will be joined by the Asheville-based funk/soul/rock band The Fritz. On Saturday the progressive instrumental band from New York, Consider the Source, will kick off the evening with an opening set before Pigeons take the stage.

If you have been known to dabble in some EDM or bass music (come on, we know you do), then you’ll be delighted to know that Rusko will be playing at The Rex Theater in Pittsburgh this Thursday, March 29th.  If into a flavor that’s more jam-tronica, then you’ll enjoy Friday 3/30 at The Rex Theater with Sunsquabi and Exmag.

If you find yourself busy this weekend, there are plenty of worthwhile shows you can check out earlier in the week.  Brit Floyd, the Pink Floyd Cover band from Liverpool, UK will be in Toledo, Ohio this Tuesday, Erie, Pennsylvania this Wednesday and Rochester, New York this Thursday. The Boston based funk band Lettuce will also perform a few concerts before the weekend hits, with shows at The National in Richmond, Virginia Wednesday night and The Blind Tiger in Greensboro, North Carolina this Thursday.

The Dean Ween Group

The Dean Ween Group will also be performing a few shows in the region this week.  The band features a rotating cast of members, but these shows are scheduled to have Dave Dreiwitz on bass, Joe Kramer on guitar, Ray Kubian on drums, Guy Heller on vocals, and of course, Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo on guitar.  On March 16th the group was proud to release a new 11-track album with Schnitzel Records titled Rock2. Make sure to grab some tickets to get a chance to hear these new tracks played live!

Other notable performances this week include:  Steal Your Peach at The Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, PA (03//31), Twiddle at Skully’s Music Diner in Columbus, OH (03/31) and Splintered Sunlight at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY (04/01)
