This Saturday marks the 29th annual Christmas Jam hosted by Warrens Haynes and Gov’t Mule. The event will span more than seven hours, and will have many special guests to help make the evening even more memorable. Some of the special guests include Trey Anastasio and TAB, The Avett Brothers, Ann Wilson, and Jake Shimabukuro. Tickets have already sold out, however, there are people on social media sites selling all kinds of seats, some even offering them up at face value. If there is any way that you can make it to this show, do whatever it takes to be there. Asheville, NC is the hometown of Warren Haynes, and emotions are sure to run high. As an added bonus, a portion of proceeds from the show will be will be donated to a local Habitat for Humanity branch. There are also several shows during the day on Friday and Saturday, to accompany the larger acts that will take place Saturday night. Dopapod will be taking up a short, but sweet, three-day residency at the Woodlands Tavern in Columbus, Ohio, and bringing us the jams all weekend long. The band’s most recent studio album MEGAGEM has received a great deal of acclaim from the community. If you’re so inclined to do so, pick up a copy of the Jamwich, Issue 67, and read up on MEGAGEM in the album reviews section. Don’t take our word for it, though, buy some tickets and come out to decide for yourself.
The Jauntee also have several shows in the area this week. The Jauntee is an up-and-coming New England Jam Band with roots in Boston. The band consists of Caton Sollenberger (Guitar), John Loland (Bass), Tyler Adams (Keyboard), and Scott Ferber (Drums). Known to play over 100 shows each year, The Jauntee have started to gain national recognition as of late. The band’s music spans several genres including funk, rock, progressive, bluegrass, psychedelic and ambient. Their decision to incorporate different styles and elements allows for interesting, eclectic jams that create a diverse, engaging experience for audiences.
