 Where’s Your Home Town? tyler

Seattle, Washington

Where do you live now?

Currently travel the east coast doing commercial HVAC. I travel for 3-4 weeks at a time and go back to Seattle for a week a month.

Favorite Band?

Hmmmm… Changes very often depending on the day. If I had to choose, Papadosio. Not only very talented musicians but they are spreading love and light to the world

Favorite Venue?

The Gorge

Favorite Festival?

I feel most at home at All Good. But the little fest vibes from Domefest and Pink Moon this year were ridiculous. All love.

Favorite Festie Food?

Grilled cheese definitely

Favorite place to visit in Appalachia?

The Shenandoah Valley is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The rolling hills are amazing, especially in the fall

First Show?

Paul McCartney & Wings, 5 years old

What is your actual career (if you have one)?

Commercial HVAC tech

How many shows do you attend a year?

Last year went to about 75. I try and do at least 1 a week, a great sadness comes over me if I don’t have some live music to dance to.

What keeps you coming back to the jam scene in particular?

The people are so great. It’s a collection of people that love music as much as I do and understand that the best musicians in the world are in this scene.

What is your outlook on life i.e. what meaning you see behind it?

I know that everyone is here for a reason. We are here to help each other and to grow with one another. In a world full of vibration even a smile at a stranger can mean something. I try and keep only positive vibrations flowing. We are children of the Universe.

What do you do for fun besides go to shows?

I travel for work and have a concert addiction so that takes up most of my time. When I can I like to get out and play some disc golf.

What is your best show/festival memory?

Watching the sunset at Marvins Mountaintop. Doesn’t get much better than that.

What is a funny story that happened recently?

Jason Hahn (SCI & EOTO) sunrise DJ set at Electric Forest I drank too much bagged wine. Woke up at 4 pm next to 2 random people under someone’s RV, because my tent was too hot. Early morning Franzia was a horrible idea. Crazy night and was so disappointed I missed Elephant Revivals morning set.

How do you think you’ve changed since you started seeing music more regularly?

I actually was raised with live music as a huge part of my life. But after getting tuned in and finding this scene I have met so many great people. The moments we share raging at shows or festivals will stay with me forever. I’m definitely a better, stronger person after meeting some of the people I have.

What is your advice for other people just now discovering this music scene?

Welcome. Take your shoes off and stay a while. Don’t be afraid to dance and tear up that cool card you have. No judgment zone here and we’re ALL a little weird.
