STIG

Earlier this month, Asheville-based Psychedelic Nu-Funk band STIG announced their “South & Otherwise” Spring Tour will kick off in Athens, GA on March 22nd at Terrapin Brewery, and cover cities throughout the Southeast region, in addition to the band returning to cities in the Northeast and the Southwest. The tour is an exciting opportunity to share the stage with a variety of other bands in venues throughout the country.

The “South & Otherwise” Tour follows the release of STIG’s newest single last month, Splügarn, a fun-filled and upbeat tune inspired by the classic afrobeat. While the studio version features all the trademarks of the band – a ripping sax melody, a drum solo break, and all the members screaming Splügarn into the mic, you’ll want to hear it live to capture this high energy, exploratory and engaging experience. STIG has also spent the past few months writing new music at their home base in Asheville, North Carolina, so expect to hear their newest tunes introduced on this upcoming tour.

STIG consists of 5 best friends from a myriad of places both geographically and musically, including Ryan Stigmon on saxophone, Thomson Knoles on keyboards, Artie Sadtler on bass, Jack McChesney on drums, and Riley Hoover on guitar. They are individually influenced by jazz, funk, metal, bluegrass, psychedelic rock, and beyond. A day in the STIG tour van is sound tracked by an absurd potluck of 5 musical brains and their live shows artfully weave their improvisational nature with tight communication and 3 years experience of writing, playing, and growing together. STIG’s music is the culmination of a democratic and highly collaborative song-writing process – their tunes are all original and always written as a group to fuse each member’s genre-crossing influences. The band formed at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA a few years ago and has since been touring the country and catering their sound to the energy and vibe of the crowd.
