Say goodbye to Summer (at least until next year). Fall is here.  While this may mean that the sleepless weekends at our favorite festivals are in the rearview, it doesn’t mean that all good things have come to an end.  Forget not the burning reds, yellows, and golds that will soon fill the landscapes, the delightful frights of Halloween, and mellow richness of life in general as we await winter’s arrival. No plans this week? No problem. Here’s what’s up.

Break out your boogie shoes and head over to King Knob Motorsports Park in Phillip, West Virginia for Groovin’ With the Grove 2 this weekend for a jammin’ good time. Enjoy two sets from Appalachian jam rock band Fletcher’s Grove, as well as music from Andy Frasco & The U.N., That 1 Guy, Pappy & JP Biondo of Cabinet, Jon Stickley Trio, Rasta Rafiki, Brokedown Hustlers, The Company Stores, and more. On-site camping will be permitted, just remember to pack something warm, as the nights are starting to get chilly.  Showers will also be on-site and available for use.  There is a $10 parking fee per car, so make sure to carpool to save you and your friends some money.  Weekend passes are currently on sale for $50, and will be $60 at the gate. Kids under 12 enter for free. Gates open at noon Friday. Visit www.groovinwv.com to learn more about the festival and purchase tickets.

The good minds at Jibberjazz Productions would like to invite you all to the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania this weekend for the 11th annual Meeting of the Minds music and camping festival.  Live music provided by Robert Walter’s 20th Congress, TAUK, Mungion, Frogleg, Naughty Professor, The Deep Dark Woods, The New Motif, The Clock Reads, and many more. Bands will be playing on three stages so there is never a dull moment.  Come hangout and enjoy the workshops, food & craft vendors, fire performances, parades, and late-night indoor jams. A kid’s area will also be on site with scheduled activities to, as well as designated family camping areas.  The 60-acre rustic fairground boasts permanent restrooms and showering facilities, hiking trails, plenty of space to camp and much more.  This event is BYOB (alcohol will not be sold on festival grounds) for those with valid ID.  Purchase your ticket in advance for $85, otherwise expect to pay $100 at the gate. Arrive as early as 4:00p.m. Thursday for an extra $15 in cash at the gate.   Parking for standard vehicles in $5, and $10 for anything oversized. Visit www.jibberjazz.com to find out more.
