Happy Labor Day!  The last days of summer are upon us, it seems.  Let’s make these next few weeks count, before autumn officially begins. Here’s what’s up.

FROGtown, GlassROOTs & Waxtastic bring us the 2nd annual Sacred Harvest Music Festival 2018 this weekend at the Poe Road Sanctuary in Grand Rapids, Ohio.  The festival celebrates the end of summer and the beginning of the fall season with variety of regional and local artists, an art raffle, a variety of vendors and loads of delicious food.  Music provided by Desmond Jones, Electric Orange Peel, Chris Houser of The Werks, Jack Cactus, Conscious Pilot and many more great bands.  Free primitive camping will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Out of respect for the property owner, please do not bring any glass bottles or pets onto the festival grounds.  Ages 13-17 are $30 for the weekend.  Pre-sale weekend passes are $40, and will also be available at the gate for $60.  Check out the Facebook event to learn more.

Mountain Song Music Festival returns to the Brevard Music Center this weekend, for three days of some of the best acoustic music in the country. First and foremost, there will be no camping on the festival grounds. If you’re thinking of attending the entire three days, consider finding a place to camp out nearby, or make sure to book a hotel in advance.  With this being said, all three-day packages are currently sold out. If you haven’t already secured your tickets, you’ll need to purchase a single-day pass for all three days to attend the entirety of the festival.  Both lawn and pavilion seats are available, with prices ranging from $40-$60 per day.  Music acts scheduled for the weekend include Steep Canyon Rangers, Taj Mahal Trio, Robert Earl Keen, Pokey LaFarge, Ben Sollee and several other phenomenal acts.  Visit the website to view a gallery of photos from previous years, get more info, and purchase tickets.

Head on over to Brown’s Island in Richmond, Virginia this Saturday for Stone’s Throw Down in RVA. The good people at Stone Brewing are kindly asking people to leave their single-use disposable water bottle at home, and to instead bring a re-usable water canteen to fill up at the several water stations that will be available throughout the festival.  Having opened in 1996 as a micro-brewery, Stone Brewing has come a long way and is now one of the largest craft breweries in the country, employing over 1,100 wonderful people.  Tunes will be provided by Drive-By Truckers, Antibalas, No BS! Brass Band, Futurebirds, Spooky Cool, and Kenneka Cook. Stone will provide a slew of craft beers to enjoy, with several guest breweries on-site as well.  Kids under 12 enter for free. Everyone else pays $20. Learn more here.

Our personal picks for festivals to visit this weekend are Valley Fusion in Capon Bridge, WV and Feastival in Pittsburgh, PA.  Valley Fusion has an amazing lineup of bands hot on the scene in the jam band scene including Octave Cat, Mungion, LITZ, We the People, and many more.  Feastival is a free festival with music from Railroad Earth and Billy Strings, plus a plethora of food trucks to choose to feast from!
