Last weekend Runaway Gin – a Tribute to Phish played two colossal 4 hour shows in the Southeast. Friday night saw RG return to the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, NC for a very dark and experimental show which featured the debut of “Waste” a Nine Inch Nails cover (“Piggy”), a highly experimental first set “Twist”, an 11+ minute “Suzy Greenberg” bustout, and an instant classic second set:

Saturday night Runaway Gin arrived in Columbia, SC on the heels of the USC Gamecocks victory over the Florida Gators. Needless to say the Music Farm was in high spirits when RG took the stage. After an energetic first set RG paid homage to the Gamecocks with a Rock and Roll pt.2 > Birds of a Feather -> Also Sprach Zarathustra (Coincidentally the ‘Cocks fight song) second set opening segment. After fan favorite “Reba” RG busted out “Lawn Boy” and jammed it out a la the Baker’s Dozen “Lawn Boy” segueing deftly into “Sand”, “What’s the Use”, and an odd “Roggae” with a minor jam segment. Next came a powerful one-two punch with Tweezer > Run Like an Antelope which closed the set with substantial punctuation. For the encore RG played a blistering “Moma Dance” before reprising “Lawn Boy” and closing out in traditional form with a robust “Tweezer Reprise”:
