After almost three years of playing throughout the DMV area and developing a reputation for putting on some of the District’s most energetic live performances,  D.C.-based AZTEC SUN took to the studio to record their debut EP, titled Set You Free.

The 5-track EP marks an exciting new chapter for AZTEC SUN, who set out the long term goal of releasing an EP over a year ago and self-produced this project. AZTEC SUN will be hosting this epic end-of-the-year dance party featuring live art and DJ Nitekrawler spinning old school Funk and Soul with songs from AZTEC SUN’s new project.

2016 has been an incredibly rewarding year for AZTEC SUN for the band voted “Best Original Local Band” by the Washington City Paper. Riding the wave of their growing renown, AZTEC SUN performed to large (often sold out) crowds at the 2016 Funk Parade, Howard Theatre, Black Cat, Rock & Roll hotel, the Strathmore, 2016 Artscape Festival (to name a few) and shared bills with international and national touring acts such as Burning Spear, The Suffers, Alanna Royale, Naughty Professor, Major and the Monbacks and The Pimps of Joytime.

AZTEC SUN will continue to push out their brand of “Funk with Soul” to diverse audiences while staying true to the band’s manifesto: “do whatever you can to make them dance.” Members of the band are currently available for interviews and other press opportunities. Please contact Stu Kelly to set up any press opportunities. Advance copies of the EP are also available for review.
