Creatures of the Night Preview

by Joy Hendricks

“When the sun fades to moonlight, the creatures of the night come out to play.”

The weekend of October 9th, 10th, and 11th is going to be one for the books. Creatures of the Night is a transformational music and arts festival making its debut this year. Transformational festivals are gatherings with purpose–places to learn and cultivate to form new ideas. The environment creates a collective of not only phenomenal music, but also the chance to show up and learn at workshops provided. Speaking of which, there will be over 50 different workshops over those three days!

The lineup is jam packed with talent from all over! Two sets of Papadosio, who have been putting out fire fresh melodic jams this summer, leading up to the new album release on October 2nd, ‘Extras in a Movie.’ I’m sure we will get the pleasure of hearing a lot more from the new album in Tennessee. Lotus will turn up the feels and the funk, as always. Keller Williams will hit the stage with his skillful and always comedic looping abilities. Hopefully we will get some kind of Random Rab sunrise set! The Emancipator Ensemble will perform, and that’s a show you want to make sure to be at. The new album, ‘Seven Seas,’ will hit the shelves September 25th, and the Ensemble will be touring this fall in support of that. Dopapod will bring in some progressive rock to surely stir up the crowd. Plus so many more, like Kaminanda, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, The Mantras, Consider the Source, Levitation Jones, the list of amazing artists goes on and on! You don’t want to miss this festival.

Not only will there be all kinds of outstanding performances and workshops but this festival is drawing in 25 featured visual artists from around the country! Amanda Sage, Jonathon Solter, Dela Artist, Ashton Hill, Bryan Bailey, Raf Mata, and Harrison Lance Crawford just to name a few of the incredible talent that will be all up in Adams, Tennessee. All different styles, from modern to very illustrative and back to the wild ideas in the artist’s minds that we will see unfold and transform over three days.

So again I will say, this is definitely an event you do not want to miss out on. The talent, the opportunities, and the ability to gather with like-minded folk; all whilst dancing and laughing the night away in the moonlight, becoming true creatures of the night.
