The Heavy Pets
Genre: Rock & Roll
The Heavy Pets are an American rock band from South Florida whose contagious vibe blends rhythm and blues, jazz-funk, nu-disco and reggae fusion with rock & roll. Called “a living, breathing, force of nature” by Relix Magazine, the Pets are known for their soulful song-craft and the powerhouse live performances of their infectious dance songs. Riding high on their most recent studio effort, the A/B single Two Horses, look out for The Heavy Pets as they continue to hit the road hard.
THE SHACK BAND
Genre:Progressive, Jazz, Funk Rock ‘n’ Roll

What originally started as an organic, impromptu and free-flowing collection of musicians casually performing in the renovated remains of a dilapidated “shack” in Blacksburg, VA has morphed into what is now The Shack Band. Since 2010, things have changed. The band relocated from Blacksburg to Richmond, VA. A true lineup was established, with four members signing on. The songwriting abilities and sensibilities matured and improved. At the start of 2013, the quartet became a quintet with the addition of a horn player adding more complex arrangements and texture to the band’s already well-established sound. But, the one thing that never wavered was The Shack Band’s intent to wow new crowds with their off-the-cuff, high-energy live shows melding funky rock ‘n’ roll and soaring harmonies with a strong emphasis on song-writing.
In 2012 alone, The Shack Band played 120 + shows up and down the East Coast and as far west as Chicago, while performing alongside a number of national touring acts, including: moe., Moon Taxi, The Machine, Perpetual Groove, The Pimps of Joytime, The Heavy Pets, Assembly of Dust, Everyone Orchestra and Dangermuffin among others. Thanks to their raw, infectious live shows and incessant touring, The Shack Band have seen, felt, and heard the effects of their budding reputation and burgeoning fan base. In February of 2012, they released their first EP, Born & Raised, to a sold-out crowd in their hometown of Richmond, VA. For 2013, the goals are simple yet ambitious: hit the rarified level of 200+ live shows, release their first full-length album, and continue to hone their craft while writing and learning new material.

The members are all George Mason Alumni/Students who decided to create a music that blended all of their creative styles bringing about a style deeply rooted in funk, soul, jazz, and blues. Their music continues to broaden the minds of all its listeners, bringing about the possibilities of how each genre can be stretched and molded to create something electrically organic.
Wide Eye Dream

Nicky C and the RSB
Genre: Southern Jam Rock
Nicky C and the RSB is a new rock band in the DC-area music scene. They fuse southern rock, blues, funk, and jamming into a fun and intoxicating sound. Founded in September 2012 by Nick Collins, Daniel Rodriguez, and Justin Ehrlich they began to jam and play open mics in Frederick, MD. In December, they met lead guitarist Josh Stansfield at a house party and jammed with him. He joined the band shortly after. In January, they won a Battle of the Bands at Bushwaller’s Pub and began to play shows in Fairfax, VA and Frederick, MD. During winter/spring 2013 they focused on writing new material for their first EP, which was recorded in April 2013, and playing shows. Jaoquin Rodriguez joined the band in July 2013 as the new bass player.
With the release of their first EP in June 2013 and a full summer line-up of shows, Nicky C and the RSB is sure to be on the radar! They are looking to play live as much as possible and are always down to meet new people and network so feel free to hit them up!
